Instead of the single row of a tennis bracelet you get an unbroken field of sparkle around your wrist, with stones catching the light at different heights. Why a Copper Alloy and Not Stainless Steel
A honeycomb pattern is made of dozens of small settings that have to meet each other precisely. Copper can be worked more finely than stainless steel, so those cells sit tightly together and almost no metal stays visible between the stones. That is why virtually every serious iced out piece is built on a copper base. Copper is also denser than hollow steel, which gives the bracelet that solid feel in the hand.
17 or 20 cm
These two sizes are 3 cm apart, so measuring pays off more than guessing. Measure your wrist just below the wrist bone and add about 1.5 cm: below 16 cm take 17 cm, above that 20 cm. The 17 cm is worth pointing out, because most iced out bracelets start at 18, which leaves a narrower wrist permanently too loose. If you fall between the two, take the 20 and expect a loose fit; a set bracelet worn tight presses the settings against your skin.
Five Layers of PVD, and Why That Counts on a Wrist
The silver colour is applied with PVD, physical vapour deposition: the material is bonded at molecular level inside a vacuum chamber rather than laid on galvanically, at Carpe Ice in five layers. That makes the finish considerably harder and more scratch-resistant than an ordinary coating, which matters on a wrist precisely because it rubs along sleeves and table edges all day. On a cool silver tone a worn spot would also show immediately as a warmer undertone. The alloy underneath is nickel-free.
Broad Enough to Be Noticed
At 7mm the bracelet clearly takes its place without dominating the wrist. The hexagonal cells do not all sit at the same height, so a different part lights up with every movement and the bracelet never looks flat. That geometric character makes it more modern than the classic continuous row of a tennis bracelet, and that is the argument for choosing this one.
Keeping It Sparkling
A copper alloy is more sensitive to moisture than steel, so this is a piece for going out rather than for the gym. Take the bracelet off before showering, swimming and training, apply fragrance and hand cream before you put it on, and store it dry in the box it came in. Dust gathers between the cells faster than on a flat setting; lift it out with a dry, soft toothbrush.
Alone or as a Set
On its own the honeycomb bracelet is emphatic enough to be worn by itself. With the honeycomb chain in the same width and finish you get a set that clearly belongs together. If you wear it beside a watch, leave a few centimetres between them: a steel case is harder than the finish and will otherwise tap it dull.
