Iced Out Cross Chain Silver With Coloured Stones (15mm) in a Continuously Set Band
A broad iced out band of 15mm in which crosses and coloured stones alternate, set all the way round. Colour is the distinction here: where a fully clear chain reads from a distance as a single patch of light, this design gives your eye something to hold on to. The silver-tone finish is applied in five layers of PVD.

Why Coloured Stones Work Differently From Clear Ones
A clear stone lets almost all the light through and breaks it into flashes. A coloured stone absorbs part of the spectrum and returns the rest, so you see less sparkle but more colour. On a broad band like this that alternation works in your favour: the clear stones provide the fire, the coloured ones the pattern. Without that colour, 15mm of white stones would read from a distance as one flat surface.
The Crosses in the Band, Not Hanging From It
On an ordinary cross necklace the symbol hangs loose from a link, so it turns and sometimes ends up facing backwards. Here the crosses are embedded in the band itself. They therefore always stand upright and in place, which a loose pendant never manages. That is the argument for choosing this type over a cross pendant on a separate chain.
Why a Copper Alloy and Not Stainless Steel
At 15mm there are hundreds of small settings in this chain, each holding a stone. Copper can be worked more finely than stainless steel, so those settings sit tightly together and almost no metal stays visible between the stones. On steel you do not get that density, which is why virtually every serious iced out piece is built on a copper base. Copper is also denser than hollow steel, and at this width you feel that immediately.
Five Layers of PVD Over the Copper Base
The silver colour is applied with PVD, physical vapour deposition: the material is bonded at molecular level inside a vacuum chamber rather than laid on galvanically, at Carpe Ice in five layers. That makes the finish noticeably harder and more scratch-resistant than an ordinary coating. On a cool silver tone that counts double, because a worn spot would otherwise show as a warmer undertone. The alloy underneath is nickel-free.
45 or 50 cm
This chain runs deliberately short. At 15mm wide that is a design choice: a broad set band belongs high, where it reads as a collar rather than as a hanging chain. At 45 cm it lies close against the neck and the band is visible across its full width. At 50 cm it falls just below the collarbone and you get a little more movement. If you plan to wear it over a T-shirt, choose 50.
Keeping It Sparkling
A copper alloy is more sensitive to moisture than steel, so this is a piece for going out rather than for the gym. Take the chain off before showering, swimming and training, apply fragrance and deodorant before you put it on, and store it dry. With this many stones side by side dirt collects faster than on a smooth chain, and on coloured stones you notice it sooner because dulling mutes the colour first. A dry, soft toothbrush lifts it out.
How to Wear It
At 15mm with colour in it, this is not a chain that pairs with a second one. Wear it on its own, or at most with the matching bracelet if you deliberately want a set. Keep the rest of your jewellery neutral and in the same silver tone, because colour beside colour quickly becomes too much.
