14K White Gold Diamond Pave Earrings With Real Stones in Solid Gold
Studs of about 4.7mm, pave set with lab-grown diamonds in solid 14K white gold. This is the only piece in the collection where both the metal and the stones are real, and that is a fundamentally different product from a coated piece with simulated stones. A lab-grown diamond is chemically and optically the same stone as a mined diamond. Delivered with a GDTC certificate.

Solid Gold Instead of a Layer Over Something Else
On plated jewellery there is a thin layer of precious metal over another base, and that layer is finite by definition. Here the gold is the piece itself. So nothing can wear through, because there is nothing else underneath, and a jeweller can always tighten the setting or have the studs polished. The metal also holds material value, which a coated piece does not. That difference is exactly where the price difference comes from.
What G and SI2 Mean
Diamond is graded on colour and clarity, and those letters say something concrete. G sits in the upper half of the near-colourless range: beside a completely colourless stone you would struggle to see the difference, and worn on its own you would not. SI2 means there are inclusions in the stone that can be found under a ten-times loupe. At this size that is a sensible choice: on stones of this dimension those inclusions cannot be told apart by eye, so you are not paying for a clarity you will never see.
Why Pave and Not One Large Stone
In a pave setting several small diamonds sit close together so they read as a single sparkling surface. That gives you two things over a solitaire at the same budget. You get more visible surface for the same carat weight, and because the small stones sit at different angles, there is always something catching light as you move. A solitaire is quieter and more formal; a pave reads more modern.
How 4.7mm Looks
At this diameter the studs are clearly visible but not emphatic. They fit under a hat, against a phone and with smart clothing, which makes them suitable to leave in every day. If you want something immediately noticeable from a distance, the 7.5mm moissanite studs are the larger choice; if you want precious metal and real stones, this is the piece.
Care
Diamond attracts grease and that is the main reason a stone can look dull. Lukewarm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft toothbrush along the underside of the setting will lift it away; that is where the light enters. On a pave setting, check now and then that all the small stones are still secure, because small stones in a dense setting are the most vulnerable to a hard knock. Solid gold has no layer that can wear through, so nothing comes off in the shower; still take the earrings out for sport and before the pool, because chlorine attacks the alloy and the setting.
