Byzantine Bracelet Silver Stainless Steel (6MM) with a Woven, Three Dimensional Link
A byzantine bracelet is built from several small links woven into every section rather than one link hooked into the next. That weave is what gives it the texture, the depth you can see from every angle and the satisfying weight on the wrist. This is the silver version in 6MM, in stainless steel with a silver-tone finish applied in five layers of PVD, in 18, 20 and 22 cm.

Why a woven link works on a wrist
A wrist is seen from close range all day, which is exactly where a woven link earns its place. A flat chain reads as one line; a byzantine has structure you can actually look at.
Three dimensional weave that catches light from several angles at once
Rounded profile, so it sits comfortably and moves with the wrist
The steel underneath matches the finish, so wear blends in rather than showing as a lighter mark
Stays bright without polishing, unlike sterling silver
Shower, gym, sweat and rain are all fine
Matches the 6MM silver byzantine chain exactly
Byzantine or king's link?
We make both, and they are genuinely different patterns rather than two names for one thing. This is the decision worth making before you buy.
The byzantine on this page has a full, woven, three dimensional link with real depth. It is the eye-catcher of the two and carries a wrist on its own.
The king's link is tighter and more uniform, with cleaner lines. The quieter everyday option, and the easier one under a shirt cuff.
We make the king's link in stainless steel, sterling silver and gold plated silver if that is the direction you prefer.
Getting the size right first time
Wrap a strip of paper around your wrist just below the wrist bone and measure where the ends meet.
Add 1.5 to 2 cm for a comfortable fit that moves and stays on
A 16 to 17 cm wrist takes the 18cm, a 18 to 19 cm wrist the 20cm, a 20 cm wrist the 22cm
A woven link sits slightly higher off the wrist than a flat one, so lean towards the roomier end
Five layers of PVD, and why that counts here
A wrist runs along sleeves, desk edges and a watch strap all day, and on a woven link it is the raised loops that take the brunt. The silver colour is applied by physical vapour deposition, bonded to the steel at a molecular level inside a vacuum chamber rather than laid on electrically, and at Carpe Ice in five layers, which makes it considerably harder than an ordinary coating. The real advantage though is underneath: because the steel is the same colour, any wear that does happen simply blends in. That is why this is the version to buy if you would rather not think about your bracelet at all.
Care
Rinse it with lukewarm water when it needs it and dry with a soft cloth, and rinse after sea water or chlorine. No polishing to remember, because no tarnish forms the way it does on sterling silver. On a woven link dirt sits deeper than on a flat one, so a soft toothbrush with mild soap brings the depth back.
What to wear it with
The 6MM silver byzantine chain uses the identical weave and is the natural companion piece. Silver tone also sits well beside a steel watch, though at this width give the two some space rather than stacking them tight. See the gold version and the rest in the byzantine and king's link collection.
