The Iced Out Bracelet That Goes With Anything
A gold tennis bracelet is a choice that shapes your whole appearance. This one is not. Because the silver tone is neutral, it recedes beside a steel watch, a silver ring or a grey suit, and that makes it the only one in this line you would also wear on occasions where a gold-tone piece would be too much. It is the iced out bracelet for people who do not wear iced out every day. On the 3mm that applies even more than on the 5mm.
How Loose It Should Sit
A tennis bracelet wears differently from a link bracelet: it may sit slightly looser, so it can turn and the stones keep catching a different angle. Measure your wrist and add about 1.5 cm, which puts you at 18 cm below 17 cm and at 20 cm above that. Too loose is a problem here: the box clasp then turns to the top of your wrist and you end up looking at the clasp instead of the row of stones.
Why the Copper Base and the PVD Layer Count Together
The base is a nickel-free copper alloy, because copper can be worked more finely than stainless steel and the settings therefore close tightly around each stone. Copper is also denser than hollow steel, which you feel on your wrist straight away. Against that, copper is warm in colour, and with a cool silver tone any spot where the layer thinned would show as a warm patch. That is why the finish is applied with PVD in five layers, molecularly bonded and therefore considerably harder than an ordinary coating. On a wrist that rubs along sleeves and table edges all day, that is the difference you see over time.
Keeping It Sparkling
A copper alloy is more sensitive to moisture than steel, so this is a piece for going out rather than for the gym. Take it off for showering, swimming and training, and apply hand cream and fragrance before you put it on. Soap from washing your hands is the quiet killer on a bracelet: it rinses between the settings and dries there into a matt film. Rinse afterwards with clean water and pat it dry, or lift it away with a dry, soft toothbrush.
Next to a Watch
On the same wrist as your watch works fine here, as long as you leave a few centimetres of space: a steel case is harder than the finish and will otherwise tap it dull. If you want a set, the silver tennis chain in the same width follows on logically. If you stack with a second bracelet, choose something without stones: two set pieces side by side cancel each other out.
