Which Width and How Tight

The 3mm is refined and stays quiet even next to a watch. The 5mm has visibly heavier links and is best worn on the free wrist. Measure your wrist and add about 1.5 cm: that comes to 16 cm (6.3 in) on a narrow wrist, 18 cm (7.1 in) for most wearers and 20 cm (7.9 in) if you want it looser. A figaro may sit slightly looser than a dense link, because the pattern only shows properly when it can move; too tight pulls the long links straight and the rhythm that gives the bracelet its character disappears.

Why Silver Is the Safest Choice on a Wrist

A wrist rubs along sleeves, table edges and a watch strap all day, and on a figaro the protruding long link takes most of that.
