On a rope the links are twisted around one another in a spiral rather than laid flat. On a wrist that gives you something a smooth bracelet cannot: it turns with your hand, so a different side of the spiral is always in the light. In gold that makes the bracelet livelier than its 3mm suggests. The base is stainless steel with a gold-tone finish applied in five layers of PVD.

Which Size You Need
Wrap a strip of paper around your wrist just below the bone, measure it and add 1.5 to 2 cm. A 15 cm wrist sits well on 16 or 18, a 17 cm wrist on 18 or 20, and a 19 cm wrist on 20 or 22. If you are between two sizes, take the larger: a bracelet that sits slightly loose still works, one that is too short does not. The 16 cm is worth pointing out, because most brands start at 18, so someone with a narrow wrist ends up buying something that slides over the hand.
Five Layers of PVD, and Why That Matters on a Wrist
The gold colour is applied with PVD, physical vapour deposition: the material is bonded to the steel at molecular level inside a vacuum chamber rather than laid on galvanically, at Carpe Ice in five layers. That makes the finish considerably harder and more scratch-resistant than ordinary gold plating. Care
Take the bracelet off before the pool, the shower and the gym, and put it on once aftershave and hand cream have dried. More soap and dirt stay behind in the grooves of the spiral than on a smooth bracelet, and that is exactly what dulls the shine; lukewarm water, mild soap and a soft toothbrush will lift it out. Dry it with a soft cloth and do not use a polishing cloth.
