Because the links lie flat, the bracelet stays on top of your wrist instead of turning to the underside the way a round link does. The base is stainless steel with a gold-tone finish applied in five layers of PVD.

Which Width and Which Size
The 3mm is subtle and stays quiet even next to a watch. The 5mm is the most chosen size and reads as Cuban without taking over. The 7mm is a statement and is best worn on your free wrist. The bracelet comes in 18, 20 and 22 cm: measure your wrist and add about 1.5 cm. At the wider sizes you want a little more room, because flat links sit less comfortably tight around a wrist than a fine chain does.
Five Layers of PVD, and Why That Matters on a Wrist
The gold colour is applied with PVD, physical vapour deposition: the material is bonded to the steel at molecular level inside a vacuum chamber rather than laid on galvanically, at Carpe Ice in five layers. That makes the finish considerably harder and more scratch-resistant than ordinary gold plating. On a Cuban bracelet that is not theory: the flat top of the links is exactly the surface that rests on your desk while you type, and that is the longest, flattest contact any piece of jewellery can have. It is not solid gold, so take it off for sport and DIY, and wear it on your non-dominant wrist where you can.
Care
Take the bracelet off before the pool, the shower and the gym, and put it on once aftershave and hand cream have dried. The silver-tone version is bare steel with no layer and can stay on; this gold-tone one has a PVD layer, so that one comes off. Soap residue collects between the flat links and dulls the shine; lukewarm water, mild soap and a soft toothbrush will lift it out. Dry it thoroughly afterwards with a soft cloth.
Next to a Watch
Match the tone to your watch rather than to the rest of your jewellery. If you wear both on the same wrist, leave a few centimetres of room, because a steel case is harder than the finish and will otherwise dull it. If you want a set, the Cuban chain in the same width follows on logically.
