2MM, 3MM or 4MM: choosing your width
We carry this rope in three sterling widths. They are not simply small, medium and large, because each one behaves differently on the neck.
2MM: a layering and pendant chain. Almost any bail fits it, and it disappears under a shirt.
3MM: the standalone everyday chain. Enough presence to be the only thing you wear, without asking for attention. It still carries a medium pendant.
4MM: a statement. Heavy in the hand, best worn on its own and over a t-shirt rather than under a collar.

Why the price rises faster than the width
A 3MM chain is not fifty percent more expensive than a 2MM by accident. Silver is priced by weight, and a chain that is half a millimetre thicker uses considerably more metal per centimetre, because the volume of a link grows with the square of its diameter rather than in a straight line.
That is worth knowing for two reasons. It explains the jump between our widths, and it means a suspiciously cheap wide silver chain is usually hollow rather than solid.
Choose your length: 50, 55 or 60 cm
50cm: high on the neck, mostly hidden by a collar.
55cm: on the collarbones. The most chosen length at this width.
60cm: on the chest and visible over a t-shirt.
Measure a chain you already own from clasp to clasp rather than guessing. If you fall between two, go longer, since a chain that sits slightly low always wears better than one that pulls at the throat.
Care
Sterling silver darkens over time through contact with sulphur in the air, and it is fully reversible. A polishing cloth restores the surface in a couple of minutes. On a rope link, run the cloth along the twist rather than across it so it reaches into the spiral. Keep it away from chlorine and perfume, and store it flat rather than coiled.
What to wear it with
