Why Black and Gold Works
Gold looks warm and catches light; deep black does exactly the opposite and absorbs it. Side by side they reinforce each other, which is why a small black face in a gold mount still reads as a clover from a distance. The gold colour is applied with PVD, physical vapour deposition: the material is bonded to the steel at molecular level inside a vacuum chamber rather than laid on galvanically, at Carpe Ice in five layers. That makes the finish considerably harder and more scratch-resistant than ordinary gold plating, which counts on a wrist because it rubs along sleeves and table edges all day. It is not solid gold, so take the bracelet off before the pool, the shower, sport and DIY, and store it dry. The steel core underneath does not rust or bend out of shape.
