Signet Ring 18K Gold Plated, Engraved with Your Own Text or Photo
A signet ring is the oldest form of personalised jewelry: the flat face was made to press a seal into wax, and that same face is what makes it ideal for engraving today. This is the gold version, 18K plating over stainless steel, in sizes 6 to 10.

What engraving looks like on a gold finish
Worth knowing before you order, because it is a real difference between the two versions.
Engraving cuts into the surface, and on a plated ring that means the lines go through the gold layer and show as a lighter, steel-toned mark against the gold. On the silver version the contrast is subtler. Most people prefer the gold for exactly this reason, since the engraving stands out far more clearly. It is a design effect rather than a flaw, but it is not reversible, so it is worth picturing first.
Text or photo engraving
Text is included in the price. Initials, a name, a date or a short word all work, and fewer characters means larger, clearer lettering.
Photo engraving is a small surcharge, and works best with a high-contrast image, ideally a face against a plain background. Fine background detail is lost at this size.
Plan the design before ordering, since an engraved ring is made specifically for you and cannot be exchanged.
Choosing your size
Measure a ring you already wear rather than your finger. Place it on a ruler and measure the inner diameter in millimetres.
Size 6 is 16.5mm
Size 7 is 17.3mm
Size 8 is 18.1mm
Size 9 is 18.9mm
Size 10 is 19.8mm
Measure at the end of the day, when your hands are at their largest, and take the larger size if you fall between two. Measuring twice is worth the minute, because an engraved ring cannot be swapped for another size.
Which finger
Traditionally the little finger of the non-dominant hand, which remains the most common choice and the one that reads as deliberate. The ring finger works as well if nothing else is there. On the non-dominant hand the face also stays clear of most daily contact, which matters more on a plated ring than on a plain one.
Keeping the gold looking new
A ring is the hardest place on the body for any finish, because your hands touch everything.
Take it off for sport, DIY and washing up
Put it on once hand cream has dried
Wipe with a soft dry cloth rather than a polishing cloth, which is abrasive
Run a soft toothbrush over the engraved face occasionally to keep the lines sharp
If you would rather have something with no coating at all, the same ring in plain steel needs none of this. See both in the ring collection.
